The Town Where Everyone Knows Your Name

The Hudson was foggy with many lighthouses.

Athens NY, a historic town with friendly people, proved to be a wonderful stop. The townspeople reminded us of the TV show, "Cheers - where everyone knows each other".  There is a municipal park with new free overnight docks. We visited the Victorian 1883 newly refurbished Stewart House for dinner and enjoyed meeting friendly folks.  Many were interested in our boat and honored us with a visit to the boat.

King and Johnny, the restaurant manager and bartender, on the sundeck.

Johnny Moon, look for Johnny and his band in the soon to be released movie, "Man Behind the Mirror".

The crew inside the hotel.

War of the Worlds scenes were filmed in Athens, at the ferry dock and at the Stewart Hotel.  Many other movie-makers have taken advantage of this location to film.

Scott McDonald graciously brought us a part for our portable generator and helped with the repair.

It rained the two days that we were there, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
