Money, money, money

Blue Moon, Wild Raven and Jules from Ontario, Canada left Oleta State Park Anchorage in Miami on Monday morning on March 9th.  Wild Raven had a speaking engagement in Miami about their canoe adventure.  They were pleased to receive a medal from The City of Miami.

Wild Raven wave good-bye to us and to Jules.

We traveled to Lake Boca Raton anchorage.

We use Skipper Bob Publications for our waterway guide book and we heeded its advice to NOT travel Miami and north waterways on weekends because it is so busy with weekend boat traffic.  We were glad we did because even on a Monday there were plenty of boats of all sizes and types out enjoying the day.

One of many bridges that must be opened in order for us to pass.

The Canyon
The upcoming section of waterway is called 'The Canyon'. This is a highly developed area, lasting over 40 miles, that is lined with concrete walls at the water line.  The wakes reverberate back and forth making this stretch bouncy when the waterway is busy.  The waterway is lined with opulent homes and even larger yachts.  I spent the better part of two days taking pictures of houses, houses and more houses and boats and more boats.  This is an amazing section of the Loop - imagine this size of houses for 40 miles, one right after another.

And of course, beautiful flowers.

We spent a night at Ft Pierce Municipal Marina.  School days friend, Steve McWethy lives nearby. We had a memorable dinner and evening with Steve and  his wife, Pat, who graciously showed us around Port St Lucie and Stuart.  Thanks for a great evening!

We traveled on to Vero Beach.  It is a great town that really caters to boaters.  There is a free city bus that comes right to the marina.  We went to the beach, enjoyed the St Patrick's Day Parade and a farmer's market.  We also rode to the nearby mall and I bought new shoes.

Pierre and Jennifer and Jules met us and we all enjoyed a fish dinner at the nearby restaurant.

Seems like we are always eating!

Smooth water and a beautiful sunset cap off an enjoyable stay at Vero Beach.

Pierre, Jennifer and Jasmine spent the night.  Next morning, Jasmine rides on Pierre's shoulder to board Wild Raven.

As we were traveling the next morning, we picked up a hitchhiker!!
